JOAQUIM PINTO AND NUNO LEONEL HOUSE (2010-2017)
The site, abandoned long ago, is crossed by a ridge line that divides a smooth slope, facing northwest, and another with more pronounced drop, facing west, bordering a wide valley.
The small house, designed as a shelter for two people who will re-cultivate the land, is located on a lower elevation on the sight-facing slope, near a large pine tree and semi-recessed into the ground. For anyone approaching the house, it is only noticeable by its roof - a 12.00x12.00m square carpet, planted with lavender, hovering slightly above the ground. Under this roof, the house opens to the valley, organized around a small nucleus that contains the bathroom, the kitchen and a closet.
